It is June 2025. Our creative director Stephanie just got back from a few weeks shooting in France, but most specifically a few days in Biarritz on the West Coast, close to the Spanish border.

Biarritz and its region are an iconic surf destination and seaside holiday hotspot; some of the best West coasts beaches and a destination for surfers since it was first invented.

It is a quintessential French city where great food, great vibes, and seaside charm are all coming together and has been the backdrop of a lot of our past shoots.

But for a week each year, the region also gathers many a bike aficionado from all over Europe and beyond. This year’s 14th edition of Wheels and Waves (WaW) was the place to be if you are into surf, skate, art, music, and of course, motorbikes; and the more vintage the better.

Across 5 days, race events took place around the region and across the border in San Sebastien, as well as surf and skate competitions. And you could also come to relax in the main WaW village located at the iconic Cité de l’Océan overlooking la plage de la Milady - an iconic spot in the city of Biarritz. The atmosphere was electric; great music, great food, and even better display of motorbikes and shops that would turn anyone into an passionate wannabe biker.

WaW is the crossroad of subcultures that align so well with the Neufound ethos - whether you are a surfer, a skater, a lover of vintage bikes, or enjoy art and music, it has something for everyone. It’s about community, fun, a touch of wild and unique expression - some of the values we proudly stand for.

And as we are looking at Europe, and specifically France as a market for our humble New Zealand sunglasses brand, we are lucky to have already carved out a small little space in this amazing location through some of our campaign shoots and our amazing local ambassadors.
